Seminar on manure storage management

The Rēzekne branch of the Latvian Rural Consulting and Education Centre Ltd. is organizing a free informative seminar “Environmentally Friendly Management Methods” as part of the activities of the State Rural Network. The seminar will take place on December 1 of this year, at 10:00 a.m. in the seminar hall at Dārzu Street 7a, Rēzekne.

Cabinet Regulation No. 829 “Special Requirements for Carrying Out Polluting Activities in Animal Housing” adopted on 23 December 2014 defines the conditions and deadlines that must be observed by livestock owners regarding manure management. With regard to the aforementioned regulations, it should be remembered that the requirements apply to all farmers who have farm animals on their farms. There are only differences in the conditions and deadlines depending on the number of animal units in the housing.

During the seminar, specialists from the State Environmental Service's Rēzekne Regional Environmental Administration will inform about polluting activities that require a Category C permit, about the requirements and deadlines for manure accumulation and storage near and outside animal housing, about supervision and the most typical mistakes on farms. Also, a business consultant from the Rēzekne branch of SIA "Latvijas Lauku konsultāciju un izgļitības centra" will inform about current conditions for preparing project applications for the measure "Investments in tangible assets" for the construction or reconstruction of manure storage facilities.

Application and further information can be obtained from the Rēzekne consulting office of SIA “Latvian Rural Consulting and Education Centre”, Rural Development Consultant Sintija Šubrovska, mobile 28311079 or by e-mail sintija.subrovska@llkc.lv
