Promoting rural business success

85% of Europe's land is occupied by rural areas, inhabited by 137 million people (Eurostat 2018 report). However, the 2019 Eurostat report found that 22 % of Europe's rural population is at risk of poverty and social exclusion. RUBIZMO and LIVERUR - two Horizon 2020 projects identified innovative ideas for rural jobs and growth!

At the closing event on 7 October, the project results and tools were presented to policymakers, advisors and rural entrepreneurs, as well as other interested parties. The event provided an opportunity to discuss and plan for the large-scale replication of innovative business models that support sustainable growth and job creation in rural areas of Europe.

The panel discussion discussed the experiences of several countries and provided recommendations for challenges in rural areas that were successfully addressed by projects implementing innovations in rural areas. Recommendations were also provided for future EU project calls.
